Tasting notes: Chateau Dassault is a fine, classical Saint-Emilion. Rather reserved when young, it gradually unfurls aromas of blackcurrant, liquorice and spices. The palate is full-bodied, rich and smooth.
About the winery: The Dassault family, passionate pioneers in the aeronautic industry, new technologies and the art market, became interested in fine wines very early. Marcel Dassault, a visionary captain of industry, bought Chateau Couperie in 1955 on an impulse. He gave his own name to the property and put everything in place to make it a famous classed growth. The property has seen the quality of its wines improve vintage after vintage. In 1969, with its elevation to the rank of Grand Cru Classe, Chateau Dassault achieved the status it deserved. Over the years, the properties owned by Dassault Wine Estates have increased to nearly fifty hectares and now form one of the largest vineyard holdings in Saint-Emilion.
