The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is an absolutely stunning Champagne for its complexity, value and soulfulness. Rich and creamy on the palate, with tons of resonance, the Cuvée Ste.-Anne is absolutely impeccable. Dried orchard fruit, spice, pastry, baked apple tart and lemon confit all infuse the Cuvée Ste.-Anne with striking complexity and depth.
About the estate:
Having taken over the artisan operation from his parents, Alexandre Chartogne, a young grower inspired by Anselme Selosse, is determined to take the domaine to even greater heights whilst continuing to respect the terroir of the village of Merfy. A committed viticulturist who works organically, Alex is now progressing with biodynamic farming. Add to that a traditionalist, Burgundy-like approach in the cellar and these ingredients make Chartogne-Taillet champagnes even more profound with each successive vintage. The cuvée Sainte-Anne in particular is outstanding as a no-brainer go-to champagne which consistently performs well above its price point. This excellent wine forms a base for his rosé, the Le Rosé, which shows uncommon vinosity and minerality for a pink Champagne. His blanc de blancs is not only a single-cru champagne, grown entirely in Merfy, but a single-vineyard one as well, from a south-facing parcel called Les Heurtebises.
