Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot
Tasting notes: It has an opulent, downright sexy bouquet with macerated dark cherries, briary, mint interlaced with candied orange peel that is beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with sturdy tannin cloaked in spicy red fruit, hints of red peppercorns and graphite infusing the finish that fans out gloriously. About the Winery: Le Clos du Marquis was established in 1902 and to this day the quality of wine produced is impeccable. The estate belongs to the same owner as Chateau Leoville Las Cases, and both vineyards are adjacent. Thanks to the terroir and blend, the wine is more flexible and more easily accessible than "Leoville Las Cases" but perhaps a bit less profound. Le Clos du Marquis is often seen as the second wine of Las Cases when in fact, this is a first wine that is at the level of a number of Grands Crus.
