THE STORY: Bertrand Bachelet is still in his twenties ! He took over from his father in 2010 and seems to have had an immediate impact on the wines. Maranges is the last major village in the Côte de Beaune, lying a couple of kilometres south of Santenay. There seems to be a real buzz about Maranges at the moment, thanks in part to the likes of Bertrand, who are doing exactly what they should be doing with this appellation. His Pinots have a wonderful freshness and juiciness, and get more serious as you progress up the ladder. Bertrand matches his ambitions to the potential of his Crus.
