Wine Region: Jura
The colour is a limpid light gold, the nose is intense, with a beautiful floral aromatic which will evolves with age towards notes of dried fruits. The palate has a nice balance, at the moment more marked by tension, minerality and salinity, but we can feel the substance which will bring great length in a few years.
About the estate:
Natives to the Jura and from farming as opposed to winemaking backgrounds, Géraud and Pauline Fromont ambitiously began Domaine des Marnes Blanches in their mid-20s and continue to share the full set of duties. The name of the domaine is drawn from their first vineyards being on white marl (“Marnes blanches”). Since beginning the domaine, they have farmed organically and are now certified with Ecocert.
Their holdings are across a number of sub-regions and grape varieties within the Jura with their Trousseau being quite enviable plantings. The vines are planted in marl-heavy soils over a limestone base. As with all of their wines, fermentation is done naturally, nothing is added in the winemaking except minimal amounts of sulphur and each parcel is vinified individually.
